Our home is a beautiful houseboat with a lot of space (160 m2), on what is said to be the most beautiful river of the Netherlands. Despite like most houseboats, our boat is very spacious and light. You enter the houseboat via a gangplank attached to our garden. On the ground floor, there is a hall to put the coats and shoes etc. On one side is the living room with an open kitchen. On the other side, it's almost all windows which make room for a stunning view. This is where our grand piano is placed, it's the perfect spot for music inspiration.
On the other side of the hall there is a corridor giving entrance to a small bedroom, a bathroom with toilet and shower, and another room which serves various purposes - sometimes a music room, other times as a bedroom for 2.
At the very end, there is a washing machine, a dryer, and an extra refrigerator.
There is a wooden staircase going up to the first floor. There you find a large bedroom. Behind that bedroom there is a small study room with very large windows looking out over the river. There is another toilet, and apart from that a bathroom with a shower and a comfortable bath. Finally, there is a very large atelier with a seating area and a study desk, again with windows looking out over the river. Also, when walking through the atelier you find a balcony where you can sit and enjoy breakfast.
The boat is surrounded by a wooden walking area, on which several benches are placed. Next to that, there is a small garden with a picknick table and a small barn. One one side of the boat there is a dyke, on the other is the river and a small island with nature.
It's great to go swimming in the river in the summer, as the wate ris very clean. Also, there are 2 kayaks (1p each) and 1 canoe (2 p), and there is a rowing boat. For those who like sailing, nearby the boat there is a lake where you can easily rent sailing boats.
The houseboat is located close to the historical city Kampen. Kampen is known by it's great quality coffee and sigars. It is a charming little town with nice old houses and kind people. Also, by car, Amsterdam is only a bit more than an hour away.
