Leiden is situated between Amsterdam, The Hague and Utrecht. Leiden is easily accessible by any means of transportation. It is close to the North Sea coast, an extensive lake district and the always colourful bulb fields, which flower in spring, and they are just around the corner, so to speak
Leiden is located in the Randstad close to large cities like The Hague, Rotterdam and Amsterdam, and has easy access to the coast of Noordwijk or Katwijk. The accessibility is excellent, Leiden is between the A4 and A44 and from all directions trains stop at Leiden Central Station. From Leiden Central Station you can walk to the town.
Leiden is an historical city, a city filled with charm, class, friendliness and hidden treasures and delights, all waiting for you to discover it . Leiden has nearly 2800 monuments, from courtyards to windmills, and churches to city gates. Actually, the entire city of Leiden is a monumental center. The distances within the canals are small, so a walk along the canal banks to see the most prominent monuments is absolutely worth it!
It is also a popular University town.
