“We hebben genoten van het huis van Margo ! De locatie was heel goed, want op fiets/loopafstand van het centrum van Maastricht, en dichtbij het prachtige Limburgse Heuvelland. Het huis was heerlijk, met een mooie inrichting en rustig, in een mooie straat. Dit was onze eerste direct swap. Dat is ons goed bevallen. Veel dank Margo, voor de gastvrijheid en het vertrouwen! Hartelijke groet, van Ard Jan en Carina ”

“This home exchange was excellent for a variety of reasons. First, the location of the home in the fabulous town of Maastricht was exceptionally convenient. Upon arrival, we had straightforward directions to walk less than 10 minutes to the home. The home itself was very spacious with every convenience available. It was a very short bicycle ride to the city centre and all the wonderful sights of Maastricht. To walk it would take about 20 minutes to the old town centre. The neighbourhood was filled with leafy green trees and very quiet, yet so close to the motorway to travel by car. The grocery store was a 5-minute walk away. Our exchange partners provided us with an excellent information package on their city and the surrounding areas. We were most impressed with all their suggestions. We were able to make connections va Skype and email before our exchange to become familiar with each other and ask and answer questions. Margo, Metten and family treated our on home and car with the utmost care and respect. They are warm, kind and welcoming people who even left a birthday gift for our son whose birthday occurred during our exchange. I am so glad we visited this part of Holland, as most of our travel had occurred in the North. This area, in particular, Maastricht has rolling hills and beautiful rivers, yet is a city with a vibrant energy and festival atmosphere. I wholeheartedly recommend this family and home for any future exchange.”
“We had a marvelous time in Maastricht. It is a beautiful small city that is well situated to Germany and Belgium as well as the Netherlands. Margo and Mateen were wonderful hosts. We had great communications before the trip as well as during the exchange. The house is large and bright with a nice backyard. We walked from the house to the center of town and we had easy access to the highways for trips outside Maastricht. On street parking was never a problem. I would enthusiastically recommend an exchange with Margo and Mateen. ”
“We highly recommend this exchange. Maastricht is one of the loveliest cities in Europe. World class cultural events often take place in the city. From Maastricht you can make day trips to Germany, Belgium, Luxembourg, France and other cities in the Netherlands. The house is comfortable and spacious. It is a perfect location, near the train station in a quiet neighborhood. Shopping and restaurants are close by. The main attractions of Maastricht are within easy walking or biking distance. The family is easy to communicate with and very helpful in planning the exchange. They treated our home with thoughtfulness and care.”
Where is it?
Maastricht is a beautiful city in the south of the Netherlands, with approximately 125.000 inhabitants. It was founded in Roman times and is therefor the oldest city in the Netherlands!
The area of Maastricht is green and has rolling hills (the only real ones in the Netherlands, since we live in a very flat country!)
The area is ideal for hiking, biking and exploring the other nearby countries.
Maastricht is located on the border of three different countries, and therefor it is the perfect location to visit Europe! Close to Maastricht you will find Vaals, where there is a unique three-land-point: you can be with one foot in Belgium, one in Germany while holding hands with your loved ones hands in the Netherlands....
Paris is only three hours away by train or car.
The airports of Brussels (Belgium), Cologne and Düsseldorf (Germany) are all a one hour drive away.
Amsterdam is 2 hours by car, 2,5 by train and the Amsterdam Schiphol trainstation is situated right underneath the airport so transportation from and to Maastricht is easy!
There is a small airport in the city of Maastricht too : Maastricht Aachen Airport: from here it is possible to take budget flights into different European destinations.
Taking the train to the heart of London will only take you about 3,5 hours.
So from our home, all of western Europe is right at your feet!
