About our home

We live in a luxurious loft apartment (165 sq. metres) on one of the upper floors of a beautiful and completely renovated old schoolhouse that is set in the vibrant centre of Utrecht. The historical building (originally from 1882) is nowadays partly used as a quiet working haven for established and well known Dutch artists. The attic has been partly rebuild to accommodate 6 uniquely designed apartments which can be reached by a private elevator only.

Our home is one of those six apartments located on the second floor. It has a large and bright living room with 4 big roof windows and sliding glass floor to ceiling doors to a south facing balcony. This gives a spectacular view of the Utrecht skyline including the historical “Dom”. The stylish living area has amongst others a Sonos-sound-system, Apple TV & Netflix.
The kitchen (Bulthaup) is spacious, very well equipped and has a light and open roomy eating area.
Our large master bedroom has a Kingsize Bed and the room can easily accommodate 3 persons. It is connected to a state of the art lavish bathroom and has a bath with waterfall faucet and a walk-in-shower.

Our home is very private and quiet since it has virtually no connection to any other apartment. It comes with an indoor private parking spot and two bicycles, ideal to explore the beautiful historical city.
Utrecht is one of the Netherlands' oldest cities, with a compact medieval centre set out around canals unique to the Netherlands: there's a lower level where warehouses were located in the 13th century, giving the canals a split-level character and meaning that diners and drinkers can nip off the street and enjoy a snack or a drink down at water level.

While the canals form Utrecht's restful core, elsewhere the city is busy reinventing itself, and part of the excitement is witnessing this ongoing transformation. Roads such as Catharijnebaan are being turned back into the canals they once were and the spectacular new train station, nearing completion, adds a vital complement to the old town, adjoined by a greatly expanded concert hall that includes five venues.

Utrecht's student population of 40,000 is the largest in the country, making the city a very vibrant place. From subterranean music cellars to movie houses-cum-pubs to a slew of special beer cafes, the range of social outlets ranks among the nation's broadest.
