About our home

We offer a modern and spacious house close to the historical centre of Utrecht, the Netherlands. Utrecht is a beautiful city with canals and old buildings which can date back to middle ages.

Our house is built in 2017 and it is a row house connected to 2 other houses. We have 5 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and 3 toilets, in total 170m2 (3 floors) and sleeping places for 7 persons. On the ground floor we have light open space with living room and kitchen. On the 1st floor are 2 bedrooms with bunk beds (sleeping places for 3, each with 90cm x 200cm matrasses) and on the 2nd floor there is master bedroom and a guestroom with a day-bed/sofa with 2 matrasses (size 90x 200cm). We have small children so house is very child friendly.

We have south facing patio garden where you in the summer can have your breakfast and enjoy the evening sun while having BBQ. Very close by is a natural pond for children to swim. City centre of Utrecht can be reached by bus or bike in 10 minutes and by foot in 30min. We have two bikes for adults (with children chairs) and a bike for 6-7 years old but we are also willing to exchange our car.

Utrecht is in the middle of Netherlands so it is very easy to travel around the Netherlands but also to Belgium and Germany. For example Brussels is 190km and Cologne 220km away. In case you would prefer travelling with a train, Utrecht is a central point to take a train around Netherlands but also for countries around the Netherlands.

More about us

  1. We are Richard and Jonna with two daughters, Saara 6 years old and Noora 8 years old. We are Finnish-Dutch family so we frequently travel to Finland but we also love to have holiday as a family in other locations.

  2. Jonna is working in financial sector as an IT manager and Richard is working at the Dutch police force.

  3. We love travelling and now when our children are a bit older, travelling is easier and also our children enjoy experiencing new places. Our dream holiday includes good weather, good food and good wine and relaxing things to do as a family (walks, swimming etc.). We respect our own house very much, like to keep it tidy and in good condition. We will treat anyone else's house with the same respect. We wish to exchange houses with people with similar mindset.

Where is it?

Utrecht is the fourth largest city in the Netherlands and it is around 30 minutes south of Amsterdam. It is a charming student city with a great history. Utrecht has a 14th-centurty cathedral, Dom-Tower, which is 112 meters high. On a clear day you can even see Amsterdam op top of the tower - that can be reached after 465 steps! In the weekend you can enjoy from the various markets (food, flower and fabrics markets) in the city or enjoy a drink in one of the many restaurants by the main canal.

We live in the area called Veemarkt which is small new neighborhood just outside the centre (3 km from the centre). There are very good public transport connections and access to highway. You can reach Utrecht city centre by bike under 15 minutes or by bus in 10 minutes. From Utrecht you can easily make trips around the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany with car or train.
