“We had great days in Ilse's home! The home is situated in a nice village, which is very central to nice cities like Amsterdam, Volendam en Alkmaar. We visited those cities and had a lot of fun! Also, we went to the beach of Bergen aan Zee. It was good to come back in the clean, comfortable home of Ilse. She was also a wonderful host and responded very quick and answered any question. Thanks for a very nice home swap expercience!”
“We loved our stay in Ilse's and Arjan's home. They have a very cozy and inviting home. We appreciated the very detailed info map and the communication with Ilse and Arjan was very smooth. Our son had a lot of fun on the trampoline in the garden :) There are plenty of activities in the area and also the city of Alkmaar is very special. There is also a traditional cheese market 2 times a week during summer, which we really liked. ”
“We loved our time in this home. It was clean and comfortable and the hosts left a great handbook to help answer any question we may have had. The hosts communicated very well and we feel like we’ve made new friends in the Netherlands. We enjoyed riding bikes to the restaurant on the corner and relaxing in the yard and eating outdoors. Our 16 month old loved the safe trampoline outside. We Highly recommend a stay here! Excellent experience ! ”
“so happy to have you in our place! hope to see you again!”
“Ilse and Arjan (plus their three beautiful daughters) were great guests. They looked after the gite really well and it was a pleasure to host them. Thoroughly recommended!”
Where is it?
Nearby the house, in Heerhugowaard, there are several supermarkets and grocery stores, selling all the necessities plus a range of local products such as cheese and fresh vegetables.
A short drive away is our local town - Alkmaar, a great place to enjoy a mid-morning coffee, lunch or dinner in one of the great restaurants. From April to September inclusive, you can find out how cheese is traded according to a tradition that is centuries old, every Friday from 10am. There is also an abundance of open air music and festivals during the summer.
The Egmond beach (by car about 20 minutes) is roomy, broad and devolves seamlessly in the Beach of Bergen aan Zee. The seaside resort of Egmond aan Zee, which borders to the northern Dutch dune reserve, is especially popular with people who love coziness. The boulevard with the lighthouse ‘Jan van Speijck’ defines the unique atmosphere in this picturesque fishing village of origin.
