More about us

  1. right now we are looking specifically for Japan in Spring or Fall 2018

  2. Though we love to cook, we mostly love to eat. Amsterdam is small so we can easily bike through the city to explore new spots, or find special ingredients in one of the open markets.

Neighbourhood

You’ll find our home in the calm and relaxed family oriented neighborhood of the 1928 Olympic Stadium. Typical of Amsterdam, it is a small house - however it was renovated to open floor plan and two rather good size bedrooms so that we are able to have both a king size bed in one room and an office space in the other. Each of these rooms open onto the garden which gets sun most of the day and little wind. The apartment is suitable for a couple, and perhaps a small child. The neighborhood is walkable, and naturally also bike friendly. Directly nearby are cafe and restaurants, just on the corner is our small fruit and vegetable seller's quaint shop, and an equally vely specialist butcher (he smokes all of his own sausages). Two supermarkets, a pharmacy and newstands are in the immediate area as well local weekly markets, bio markets, a specialist cheese shop and a french bakery all within a casual stroll. The house is situated between three parks - the Vondelpark, the Amsterdamse Bos, and the Beatrixpark. The tram 24 brings you directly into the Museum Quarter (newly renovated Stedelijk and Rijksmuseum) within a few minutes and further into the center of Amsterdam within 22 minutes, or bike it for roughly the same time. Close by is the WTC / Zuid station for Metro access throughout and out of the city with direct access from the Schiphol airport. We love living here because it is a charming neighborhood of Amsterdammers and expats, close enough to the hectic center to go when we want, but we can sleep undisturbed and enjoy a coffee on the terrace in the morning as the birds chirp.
We are looking to swap homes for 1-2 months in Spring or Autumn 2018. Japan is where we want to be - though we are open to France or Italy if it were the right situation.
