Our monumental formely farmhouse from 17th century has many characteristic elements, which makes it a cosy and an unique place to stay.
The house is surrounded by more than 18.000m2 private ground. The garden offers plenty of space to relax, play opportunities for kids and to enjoy the stunning views.
Next to our sun terrace we have our own vegetable garden, which provide us with the freshest vegatables and fruits.
Our bikes can be used as well to discover the biker-friendly environment: we have three adults bikes (two of them with kids seats) and bikes for kids ( for several ages). A car-exchange can be discussed as well: we have a 7-seat car to offer.
On the ground floor we have two bedrooms: the master bedroom (including the bathroom) and a kids room (including a baby crib as well). In the spacious living room you will also find our beautiful Steinberg piano, which is played by two of our kids, the television with Netflix account and game computer. The kitchen is on the ground floor as well with a big dining table (8 people) and another nice place to chill/ read/ sit.
On the first floor we have three kids rooms, another (smaller) bathroom and a huge play area (with a soccer game table and loads of Playmobil, Lego and other toys). Kids will love this place for sure!
In this play area we also have a sofa-bed for two more people to sleep.
Because we still have a baby son (Carel will celebrate his 1st birthday in March) we have plenty of baby gear available as well.
In the entire house and part of the garden there is good WIFI.
We love playing boardgames with the kids, so we have a cupboard full of games to play for many different ages! The same goes for puzzles.
We all love reading books and we therefore have many books available, both in Dutch and English and for all different ages. Also, we are very interested in (the history of) our region and especially how the farmers use to live. Therefore, we have many books on this topic as well, for those who are interested ;-).
Dutch summers are getting more and more warm and our farm house offers a cool place during these hot days (one of the advantages of living in an old farm house with very thick walls keeping the warmth outside. So no airconditioning needed!).
We also have a dog, cat and chickens (fresh eggs!) living with us. We can arrange another home for our cat and dog if you do not feel comfortable taking care of them, when you are in our house.
At the moment we are renovating our monumental farm house, so within few months our house will hopefully be more beautiful as it is right now (that is why we have fewer pictures from the inside).
Because our house has an official monumental status we are bonded to certain rules, most important that we maintain all old elements. For our renovation we are trying to find a balance in how to cherisch these old elements and at the same time preparing the farm house for a few more centuries!
Actually we have already found our own paradise, since we love our house and enjoy it to the fullest! However, we do want to see a bit more of the world, and enjoy other places as well with our kids. Also, we are more than happy if other people can experience our little secret paradise as well!
Our house is in the middle of rural life and historic nature, yet still only 5 minutes by bike away from the village of Sint-Michielsgestel with shops, restaurants, outdoor swimming pool, weekly market, golf course and play areas.. The historic town of 's-Hertogenbosch (Den Bosch) is a 10 minutes car-drive or 30 minutes by bike, which is certainly worth to visit. The city is called little Amsterdam, because of the many nice little streets, old buildings and trendy restaurants and shops! Also, from Den Bosch you can take the train to many destinations in the Netherlands!
Because we live rather central in the Netherlands, other important Dutch cities are close as well (Amsterdam 1 hour, Rotterdam 1 hour, Utrecht 40 minutes, Eindhoven 30 minutes, Maastricht 1 hour).
Other European cities are also more than worth visiting and easy to reach by car or train: Antwerp, Bruxelles, Brugges and Gent (Belgium), all within 2 hours; as well as Paris (France) in a 4 hours car drive.
