About our home

We live in a quiet street in a typical dutch family home from 1927. The house is 85 m2 and has a living and kitchen, 2 bedrooms, a bathroom and a sunny garden (bbq available). Haarlem's historic city centre (15 min walk) has a lot of nice places to have dinner, drinks, shop and there's a saturday market. Haarlem lies between Amsterdam and the beach so a perfect spot for a city/beach combination trip!

The master bedroom has a double bed, the other bedroom has 2 single beds. The kitchen is fully equiped (we love cooking).
We don't have children of our own, so apart from a few toys for our nephews there's no kids stuff in the house.

- Amsterdam: 15 minutes by train (6 times per hour)
- Haarlem centre: 15 minutes walk
- Beach: 30 minutes bike ride (two bikes available)
- Small swimming lakes in the dunes: 20 minutes bike ride
- City park with lunchroom, small petting zoo and natural playgrounds for children: 1 minute walk
- Supermarket: 5 minute walk

Neighbourhood

With its ancient buildings, cobbled streets and winding waterways, the medieval city of Haarlem is one of the most photogenic destinations in the Netherlands. At the historic heart of Haarlem, this vast square is located underneath the imposing Grote Kerk, and is the image of the city that many people will recognise. Hosting regular festivals, concerts and markets, the Grote Markt is the hub of daily life in Haarlem and just happens to be one of the prettiest city squares in the country. Go there on a Saturday when the Netherlands’ finest street market rolls out its wares. Haarlem has been voted as the Netherlands’ best shopping destination on several occasions, and a quick saunter around the boutique-lined streets will reveal exactly why. With everything from achingly cool concept stores to traditional markets and big brands to independent labels, as well as charming antique and curiosity shops around every corner, it’s no wonder that Haarlemmers call their shopping district ‘de Gouden Straatjes’ (streets of gold).
