About our home

In our beautiful and cosy 17th century home, you'll find yourself right at the heart of Utrecht, a laidback alternative to Amsterdam (which incidentally is an easy 27 minutes trip by train from Utrecht). Our little cottage stems from 1612 and was fully restored a couple of years ago.

We are looking to swap houses for about two/three weeks in July or August and for about a week in October 2016. We are limited to travelling in Europe this year, but we are planning to travel outside of Europe for a few weeks in 2017, so please always feel free to contact us!

Our cottage consists of a small living room/study downstairs (including a box bed), a second modest living room upstairs, a sunny bedroom, compact bathroom and a kitchen. Our kitchen is of course equipped with a stove (four-burner), oven, dishwasher and fridge. There is a semi-public garden at the back of our house and a park right in front of it. If you love books then our home might be just right for you: you'll find plenty (both Dutch and English).

Our house is ideal for couples looking for a romantic vacation. It is also possible for three persons to stay in our house as next to the double bed (180x220 cm) there is a sofa bed (single) available. The house lies in the museum district: a stylish and quiet area right in the middle of Utrecht city centre.

Utrecht was one of the first cities in the Netherlands to obtain town privileges, and walking around this wonderful city, you can taste its history everywhere. It is a city that has a lot to offer: it is thought to be the most beautiful canal city of Europe (!) and it boasts many nice parks, cafés, shops and museums. Also, Utrecht lies in the heart of the Netherlands. If you stay here for a longer period of time and would like to explore the Low Countries: Amsterdam is only a mere 20 minutes and the Hague and Rotterdam 40 minutes from Utrecht (by train). International travellers have mayor European cities at arms length: Brussels, (2 hours by train) Paris (4 hours), Berlin (5 hours) and you can catch cheap flights to London (1 hour flight) or the south of Europe from Schiphol (Amsterdam).

In short, our Utrecht home has much to offer for any kind of traveller: a relaxed, romantic getaway or the perfect base to discover the Netherlands and Europe.
