About our home

The best place to stay for your vacation in western-Europe: Utrecht, near Amsterdam! The home is a typically Dutch pre-WW II row house, fully renovated, modern, airy and equipped with everything one needs in the 21st century.

The ground floor contains a living room with seating area and dining area and an open kitchen. Both the dining area and the kitchen have their own door to a city backyard.

On the first floor, you will find a bathroom, two bedrooms, and an office. Another door at the first floor leads to the top floor, the loft.

The loft is rented out as a semi-independent furnished studio to a very quiet, neat academic researcher. He uses the studio as his pied-a-terre, usually spends 2-3 nights per week there, mostly arriving at 7 PM and leaving the house at 7:30 AM.

The house is located in the city of Utrecht, originally a Roman city, several traces and buildings of that area are still present and can be visited. Utrecht has a medieval, beautiful city center, breathing the historic atmosphere one only finds in ancient European cities.

Today, Utrecht is modern city, boasting one of the best universities of the Netherlands, and henceforth having a very young population. It has a tremendous cultural scene, for all styles and all ages - music, art, literature, food and more. The city has several theatres and concert halls (where the best orchestras come), great cinemas, restaurants, museums, and much, much more.

Utrecht is situated right in the centre of the Netherlands. Just drive any direction for maximum one hour to get to one of those other hotspots: Amsterdam (30 minutes), The Hague (45 minutes) , Rotterdam (45 minutes), Leiden (45 minutes). You can drive to Antwerp, Belgium, in one hour, Brussels can be reached in two hours. Dusseldorf, Germany is just 1,5 hour away, while it will be only 5 hours to get to Paris.

And it gets even better: Utrecht is the main train hub of the Netherlands: get on the high speed train to any international destination right from Utrecht, at the central railway station just 5 car minutes from this home.

About me: I am an independent journalist with a young son. I often travel with my son and my elderly parents. I am looking for responsible people to exchange my home with, people who will treat my own with just as much care and responsibility as their own.
