About our home

Our comfortable modern house is located in a quiet and sunny location in Mission Bay, Auckland. It is light, sunny and roomy and has a large lounge with open kitchen and dining room opening out on our terrace in a sheltered and private garden. It is only 5 minutes (walking) to a reasonable size shopping centre, with supermarket and video store, doctor, pharmacy and banks. A bus stop around the corner(5 minutes walking)takes you to Auckland Central City (10 min.)with its musea, entertainment, shopping and rail, cruises and airport connections(10 minutes).

More about us

  1. We are a semi-retired Dutch couple in our sixties (lawyer and book retailer). We have lived in New Zealand since 1980 and enjoy it here. Our children have grown up and live in Wellington and Melbourne (Australia). We'll take care of your house and any pets (within reason). Of course we will respond to all offers. We have had 3 exchanges to date with positive experiences. We speak English, Nederlands, Francais and Deutsch if that is easier for you.

Where is it?

Mission Bay is well known for its beach and almost mediterranean atmosphere and outdoor sea-side lifestyle in summer with many small restaurants and its own movie theatre. It is a 20 minutes walk (5 minutes by car) to the sea and restaurants and cinema or to the next sea-side bays of Kohimarama and St Heliers. From Central Auckland, motorways or more scenic secondary roads lead you East, North, South and West if you want to explore the Auckland area with its vinyards, many lovely bays and walking tracks everywhere. The Coromandel Peninsula is about 1.5 hours away. If you want to explore the wider North Island, it takes only around 3 hours to Taupo (trout fishing and skiing) and Rotorua (volcanic geysers etc.) in the centre of the North Island or to Whangarei in the North (deep sea fishing and scuba diving at the world heritage marine reserve "The Poor Knights"). Many coach and boat tours or harbour trips depart from Auckland. They take you for shorter or longer harbour trips or scenic trips all over the North and/or the South Island.
