“Enchantée de ma semaine à Auckland. Tina met tout en oeuvre pour rendre le séjour le plus agréable possible, donne des conseils pour les moyens de transport publics et m'a même consacré une journée entière pour me montrer sa maison au bord de l'océan. Des liens d'amitié se sont établis et j'espère la recevoir aussi bien chez moi dès que possible. ”

About our home
My home is a terrace house in the heart of Auckland, over looking the Domain, within walking distance of the central city, close to the museum, motorways and train station. Cinema theatre, restaurants, shops and the University are all within walking distance. It is a delightful and convenient location for any visitor to the city.
Downstairs is a comfortable sitting room with gas fire and piano, a dining area , cloakroom and kitchen
adjacent to which is a small sitting area with sofa bed suitable for one occupant.
Upstairs a study, two bedrooms , twin beds in one and a king bed in the other, two bathrooms and separate
lavatory. A laundry cupboard with washing machine and dryer.
There is also a small outdoor area with table and chairs accessed by French doors from the sitting room .
A heat pump/ air conditioning unit, electric blankets and good reading lights ensure a comfortable stay.
As we have a beach property an exchange need not be simultaneous.

Christine's reviews
As a host (2)“Christine was very helpful in giving information before we arrived. She made us feel very welcome, and when we arrived cooked us a meal and told us about the local amenities. The public transport links were very good into town and also to north shore where my son lives. Her house has a lovely private communal garden with fountain, and the house is opposite the domain, and the museum, which is beautiful to look out on from the balcony. It could not have been a better exchange.”
More about us
-
I am Christine. I trained as a dietitian, and have also worked as a school librarian and latterly with rare books.
Having moved from my large family home and garden I have at last found time to explore the possibilities of home exchanges which I see as a good way to spend time in other countries while giving others an opportunity to enjoy mine.
Both my late husband Roger and I have traveled extensively over the years sailing, sightseeing and playing golf but this is my first venture into home exchanges .I also have a beach house only ninety minutes drive South of Auckland,
Come and visit this little country at the 'bottom' of the world. A warm welcome awaits you.

Where is it?
Neighbourhood
Over the road from my house is Auckland's oldest park, and at 75 hectares, one of the largest in the city. The park contains all of the explosion crater and most of the surrounding tuff ring of the Pukekawa volcano.
The park is home to one of Auckland's main tourist attractions, the Auckland War Memorial Museum, which sits prominently on the crater rim (tuff ring). Several sports fields occupy the floor of the crater, while the rim opposite the Museum hosts the cricket pavilion and Auckland City Hospital.
The Wintergarden, with two beautiful glass houses, lie on the north side of the central scoria cone. The fernery has been constructed in an old quarry in part of the cone. The duck ponds lie in the northern sector of the explosion crater, which is breached to the north with a small overflow stream.
The nearby Wintergarden Cafe made its debut at the Great Industrial Exhibition of 1913-1914 as 'the ideal New Zealand house'.
Here you may enjoy your morning coffee, breakfast or lunch perhaps preceded or followed by a run, jog or stroll, as is your wont, round this lovely park.
