About our home

Our home is open, airy with lots of windows overlooking New Zealand Bush and Manukau Bay. Doors from both the living and dining rooms opening out onto a large deck with beautiful views of the bush and the sea. Upstairs are a large open-plan living room - kitchen and dining area. Downstairs are 2 bedrooms and our office. Master bedroom has a small deck overlooking the bush and the bay. From the decks - upstairs or down, there is a view of bush -- the Atkinson Reserve -- with few houses visible. It is quiet and feels quite private.

It is an easy walk to Titirangi village shops and cafes. We have off-street parking for 2 cars and are on a bus route. There are bush tracks from the house down to Titirangi Beach and we are in easy reach of multiple west coast beaches and bays.

More about us

We are a psychologist and contract/data manager working on multiple contracts and teaching. We are both originally from the US -- have lived in NZ for 10 years. We have two daughters living in Seattle and are looking for a house swap for a visit to them in January 2013. We'd like to be as close to Ballard or the U district as possible. We also have family to visit on the East Coast and would like to be in NYC in mid-late February 2012. While we are willing to travel to the US in January, you will be coming to New Zealand in the height of summer! Titirangi is a great base to explore all of Auckland and New Zealand and summer is the best time to travel here. We both work from home and find Titirangi and our house -- with views of bush and the sea --a quiet and cosy place to live and work.

Where is it?

Titrangi, in the Waitakere ranges west of Auckland, is bush-clad and close to beautiful west coast beaches (walk down a short track to Titirangi Beach from the house), numerous hiking trails and outdoor activities. Wake up to the sound of the Tui's bird song, watch native parrots and wood pigeons. The house is close to Titirangi Village where there are shops and cafes and several great restaurants. We are a 20 min drive to downtown Auckland. We are next to the Waitakere Ranges Regional Park which includes more than 16,000ha of native rainforest and coastline. Its 250km of walking and tramping tracks provide access to beaches, breathtaking vistas, spectacular rocky outcrops, streams, waterfalls and farms overlooking the wild west coast.
