“Zena’s beautifully renovated home is gorgeous! Large rooms, lovely furnishings, cool art and decor and all mod cons you could wish for. The 10 minute walk downhill into the centre of Napier is easy, the uphill return keeps you fit. Zena is a terrific host with excellent communication and fast response to queries. Staying at Zena’s home made our visit to Napier really special. Highly recommended.”
Zena's reviewsAs a host (6)
“Great communication with Zena throughout, a very helpful and thoughtful host. House was just wonderful, full of character with every modern convenience and had plenty of outdoor space areas for relaxing and/or eating. A great location. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!”
“Zena is the perfect host and her place is truly beautiful, homely and a wonderful home away from home. If you have the chance to stay, we cannot recommned this place highly enough. We stayed 10 nights with our 2 kids (6 and 9) who loved the spa, the garden and and location. Thank you for inviting us to stay in your home. ”
“I lied, Zena's description of the property was very understated, so for accuracy, she needs to hype it up a bit. What I thought was an apartment turned out to be an amazingly huge Victorian home that had been recently restored and updated in a most tasteful and comfortable fashion. To simplify, Zena and John took their 19th century classic into the 21st century of function and comfort with losing an ounce of charm. Everything works. The location is in an enviable hilltop neighborhood tucked away on a side street. Even for the lazy tourists, like my wife and I, the walk down the steepish safe stairway to heaven (Napier) was enjoyable, and a convenient way to get to the beach and the esplanade, where the sea meets the city of Deco. Zena and husband John delayed their weekend "bach" trip to ensure our introduction to their home was complete, which was above and beyond the call of duty, and greatly appreciated. We did not take full advantage of the plethora of cooking options, i.e. the wood fired outdoor PIZZA oven, but we did treat ourselves to the BBQ and the well equipped kitchen and drank so much of Zena's Nespresso we had to restock out of guilt. You can get lost in all the cool hangout spots at this home, the front has the BBQ with covered outdoor couch, the back has a huge deck. There's a step down garden area with a luscious hot tub. The large living room with the giant TV and super comfy couch. The list goes on.This place is the essence of the LHS concept, a home away from home with freedom and comfort and beauty all around. Thanks again to Zena and John for making it all even better than advertised.”
“Thank you Zena for such a wonderful stay in Napier. Zena's house is beautiful and full of everything you could possibly want (pizza oven, spa, toys for kids). It is a short and hilly walk to the centre of Napier and Zena gave us great recommendations for food and things to do. We would have loved to stay longer!”
“This is a fantastic place to stay, you can walk ten minutes into the centre of Napier and take the art deco tour around on foot. The house is beautiful with very charming decor, different in every room, very individual. The bathrooms are modern and very clean, the hot tub in the garden too. Car parking by the front door, bedrooms big and quiet. The kitchen very well equipped and immaculate. The whole area is a delight, traditional building really well kept, and a civic pride that still binds the people since the earthquake three or four generations ago”
