About our home

Sliding ranch doors to three elevations lead to a lawn and patio garden with direct access onto open parkland and valley. Fully double glazed, two large heat pumps with Air Con options. Double garage houses laundry with washing machine and access to drying areas. The house is located at the end of a private driveway (shared with 1 other property) within a beautifully maintained tree lined avenue. The Pacific Ocean meets the end of the street whilst the Banks Peninsular hills adjoins the other.

  1. Originally from central UK Matt & Ruth emigrated to Christchurch in 2004. We love living in the South Island and we cant now imagine living anywhere else. We spend most weekends walking the numerous trails, playing with our kids on the beach or in the many parks and outdoor venues. We love to travel and visit new places and regularly visit the East Coast of Australia as well as visiting family and friends back in the UK. Ruth is a Scientist by trade but is currently retraining to be a Nurse whilst Matt runs his own recruitment consultancy specialising in recruiting IT & Engineering professionals from around the world.
    We have not done a house exchange before. We have a few restrictions on timing due to school holidays but were looking forward to what discovering some wonderful new locations!

Where is it?


Moncks Bay adjoins Redcliffs Village and is one of Christchurch's premier seaside suburbs. Located a 15 minute drive from the CBD and 30 minutes from Christchurch International Airport. This small and exclusive suburb is sandwiched between the Pacific Ocean and the spectacular foot hills of Banks Peninsular. From the back door you can be on the peninsular walking tracks within a few minutes enjoying world class views of the pacific ocean, snow capped Southern Alps & Kaikoura ranges or over the port hills into the natural harbour of Lyttelton Port. Redcliffs village is a short stroll across the park and offers all necessary conveniences including a great cafe, Chinese restaurant, doctors, dentists, library, garage and New World supermarket with a great deli counter. Walk or cycle along the recently created 'coastal pathway' to a host of other conveniences in Ferrymeade, enjoy the natural splendor of adjoining McCormacks Bay or head further east to the popular surfing bay village of Sumner for a range of amazing coffee shops, restaurants and boutique shopping. For the more adventurous carry on the winding valley road into 'Taylors Mistake', a picture postcard surfing bay with magnificent, well tended walking tracks out to Godley Head. This is a world class walk, with stunning ocean views over to the Kiakoura ranges at the far side of Pegasus Bay.
Christchurch Central City is a 15 minute drive away and there is easy access to State Highway 1 both North & South as well as the main route over the Southern Alps to the rugged West Coast and to the numerous ski fields around Canterbury. It is possible to surf & snowboard on the same day! Christchurch is the gateway for exploring New Zealand's South Island. Even day trips or weekend escapades can give you access to numerous, very remarkable locations of simply stunning natural beauty.
