About our home

A modern home that gets sun all day long and requires very little heating in winter. Indoor/outdoor living, and open plan. Large kitchen. Views of Cheltenham beach and Rangitoto Island in the gulf. Floor to ceiling windows throughout. Doors opening off the Master bedroom onto a deck with views of Rangitoto. Master bedroom has an ensuite. Lovely quiet neighbourhood. House has double garage with entry into the house. Separate TV Room. Tastefully decorated in stylish furnishings and has a minimalist feel.

Devonport is a quaint village that dates back to the earliy settlers. The homes date back to the early 1900's and majority have been beautifully restored. The village is an easy walk from our house and access to three beaches with Cheltenham beach just 20 metres from the house. There is numerous cafes and restaurants and is a popular tourist destination. Large play grounds for children and sports fields are very close at hand. The coast is lined by the native pohutukawa trees which are in full bloom at Christmas with their red flowers. There is two volcanic mountains - North Head and Mt Victoria which allow for a 180 degree view of Auckland Harbour and City. There are tunnels on North Head that were used during the war to protect our shores from the Japanese advances down this region. Devonport is full of character which is why it is so popular and locals alike with tourists

My husband is Canadian and we met when I was venturing on my OE. We married in Calgary and lived there for 5 years. After our first son was born we moved back to live in NZ. This son is now living in Calgary not far from where we used to live and has married a Canadian girl and they have 2 sons. We also have another son who lives in Sydney Australia and he has worked in war torn areas of the world eg Afkanistan, Sudan. Our son in Calgary started up his own Rubbish business 3 years ago and called it KIWI Rubbish.

Both my husband and I have been small business people since returning to NZ. I have started up a flower business and a Pilates Studio which was only the 3rd such studio in NZ over 9 years ago. I have since sold the business and now take part in Age Group Triathlons, ocean swims, and bike races. My husband has owned several businesses over the years mainly in the Fruit and Vege field and has owned a BP Service Station for the past 13 years.

We are wanting to do a house exchange so we can spend time with our family in Calgary and get to know our grandchildren.
