About our home

Our home and garden on Banks Peninsula are architecturally designed for comfort and scenery, with all mod cons. As the photos show, it consists of entrance hall and courtyard, kitchen, 3 living rooms, 3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, large balcony, small study, laundry and garage. The garden is pretty and there is outside seating, two bbq's to use. We are close to several local beaches, the yatch club and national walking tracks. Ski-fields 2hrs away.
We are looking for 3-4weeks in Paris between end March and mid April 2011. There are only two of us so we do not need a large house, an apartment or flat would be acceptable but would like two bedrooms for any UK family or friends who may be able to visit for a week-end break.
If you are interested in visiting New Zealand's South Island, we look forward to hearing from you soon and will be happy to answer any questions that you may have.

More about us

  1. We are semi-retired and the only other permanent residents in our home are our pets - Katie the cat and Ellie the Cairn terrier. We have a daughter living in Melbourne and a son and partner living in Takaka, NZ. We love walking, birdwatching, gardening, growing our own veges, fruit, herbs and flowers. Errol plays bowls at the local club and Brenda belongs to the local writers group, works part time in the parish church and is endeavouring to learn french, which is one reason why we are going to France.

Where is it?

We live on the rim of an extinct volcano in the small village of Diamond Harbour, which is surrounded by the hills and waters of Lyttelton Harbour. Whether you are an artist, tramper, boatie, photographer, surfer, canoist, skier/snow-boarder, bird-watcher or simply an adventurer - there is something here for you! All our local sporting and activity clubs are happy to welcome visitors. A 6minute ferry ride from D.H. takes you across the water to Lyttelton and then a 30minute bus ride takes you to the city centre of Christchurch. This is on the south island of New Zealand with some of the world's most beautiful scenery, national parks, international ski venues, lake, beach, mountain and country areas. Our bird life has many unique species and we have whale watching, penguins galore and endangered species breeding programmes, along with all the adventure sport facilities like bungy-jumping, jet-boating, etc, as well as numerous walking tracks. Our roads are not busy with traffic, apart from rush-hour in the larger cities but overall driving is relaxed and very pleasant. Christchurch is a 40min drive, our closest city and the largest in the south island. It is well set out and easy to navigate - very green with huge trees, beautiful river, large parks and botanical garden. Great restaurants, cafe culture, museum, art gallery, shopping and a free bus to take you around the city. For full details, photos etc - check out its website www.christchurchnz.com/
