About our home

We love our house because it gets all day sun and its set back into a sheltered bay with lovely views down the harbour. It’s a private comfortable family home that opens to the outdoors and with a modern kitchen and three bathrooms, it’s a child friendly home for relaxing in and enjoying all that Dunedin and the Peninsula have to offer.

We have native birds in our garden and we love sitting on our deck listening to the bird calls. We have a great cycle/walkway that runs for 2.5 km along the front of Macandrew Bay which accesses a lovely wee beach and a fabulous café and shop.
The Bay boasts a friendly community which is close to the centre of Dunedin, while being close to tourist activities on the beautiful Otago Peninsula. Home to the only mainland Royal Albatross colony, there is a busy wildlife tourism industry based around the seals, yellow eyed penguins etc. There are many secluded and peaceful beaches to wander along, as well as many great surfing spots.

We have two cars that can be used as well as a host of bikes for the entire family and a kayak that can be carried the short distance down to the harbour. The Lonely Planet guide says that the Peninsula loop bike ride is one of the 10 best in the world - a stunning ride with an ever changing view of the Peninsula and its bays.

Queenstown and Wanaka, with their vineyards, mountain sports and world class scenery is 3.5 hours drive away. Much of the Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit were filmed in and around the region.

Dunedin is a lovely University City and is known for its lovely cafes, lovely buildings and thriving art scene.
