About our home

90 seconds from the beach, and that's with my seakayak on the trolley next to me. This house is the perfect spot for a beach holiday. Hands down, the best and sunniest weather in NZ. An extremely easy place to be whether you want total relaxation or days full of activity.

The quiet and private house has 2 massive decks accessed by fully opening bifold doors to follow the sun around during the day or to enjoy the moonlight over the water at night. Good views of the ocean, 2 bedrooms upstairs, one with ensuite bathroom (queen bed), zip together king/singles in the other, and another bathroom as well with shower and bathtub/jacuzzi jets. Main kitchen, lounge (with queen fold-down futon sofa), gas fireplace, and dining area are upstairs.

Open plan studio downstairs has 4 bunk beds, queen bed, queen fold-down futon sofa, kitchenette with 1/2 fridge, oven, 4 burner range, lounge area, TV for DVDs and bathroom with shower.

Comfortable furniture throughout, great beds, good water pressure, outside showers, infinity hot water, easy kitchen with everything you need, large garage, deck chairs, outside dining table/chairs with umbrella, Sky TV, no bugs to bother you, east and north facing house and beach for perfect tanning options. A local gardener looks after the small patch of lawn and plantings around the home and all linen/towels are supplied. Broadband internet is accessed by wireless for a nominal fee. Entire outside area is enclosed to contain toddlers if needed.

We often take the whole family here (3 generations) as the layout works well for 1 and 2 families or a large group of friends.

More about us

  1. Robina and I (Jef) were born in the late 40's and early 50's of last century but we seem to play with people that are a couple of decades younger than us. I'm a mountain/heliski/backcountry guide and Robina is a Naturopath. We live very active lifestyles involving mountain running, alpine climbing, telemark/alpine/cross country skiing, road and mt biking, surfing, SUP on rivers/lakes/surf, tramping, seakayaking and being involved in our grandchildrens' and childrens' lives. We keep our own homes tidy, don't like clutter, and fix things as soon as we notice they need attention. Our beach house is where we go for a good solid summer fix when we want to be warm, at the water, with no stress. We're not frivolous but we do like quality and functionality in anything we do or use.
We would prefer to exchange with someone who is located in a ski area (ski in/ski out) who would like a break from winter while we take a break from summer for some winter fun but we're always open to new venues offering new adventures as well.

Where is it?

The Kaiteriteri bay is sheltered and is one of the main seakayak launching areas for the popular Abel Tasman National Park with superb water skiing, sailing, Stand Up Paddleboarding or swimming, and the cafe/store/restaurant is just a 5-10 minute walk down the beach or a 2 minute drive. Motueka is 15 minutes by car for all your grocery or other needs and Nelson is about 40 minutes drive for the city cultural experience. The whole of the Tasman/Nelson District is abundant with a multitude of wineries, artists, sculptors, and galleries that can keep you entertained for days.

We're situated in Little Kaiteriteri which faces more north (more sun) than the main Kaiteriteri beach and is not visited by the majority of the public. There is a mountain bike trail system with pump track in Kaiteriteri (5 minutes by bike), superb road cycling on the local roads, beach after sandy beach all the way up the Abel Tasman coast to explore by foot, water taxi, or your own boat (motor/sail/kayak), and Golden Bay is an hour's drive away as the gateway to the Farewell Spit. There is even exciting surf to be had on the west coast of the Golden Bay area.
