About our home

Visitors often comment on how peaceful and tranquil our place is... we put this down to the very limited visible neighbours (you can see one house or two houses in the distance across a farmland); and the architecture of the house which encourages you to just sit back and enjoy the wide land and sky views.

Wind your way up the long scenic driveway, past a large olive grove, arriving at a private sanctuary with captivating, expansive rural vistas, and distant coastal terrain. Our luxury home was built in 2016, a triple pitched black barn dwelling, vaulted ceilings in the open and spacious kitchen dining and living areas, wide swathes of glazing to capture the ever changing private views. One wing contains three bedrooms, main bathroom, with the main bedroom including an ensuite. Raised vegetable gardens adjacent to the building provide a selection of seasonal and herbal treats for meal creation in the modern and well equipped designer kitchen. Bathrooms are fitted with rain shower heads and tiling throughout.

The site enjoys plenty of parking, and a walk down the private metal road brings you to a secluded shell and mangrove beach, a perfect place for walkers or joggers to bath in nature, soak up amazing inlet and rural views and burn plenty of calories on some moderately challenging hills.

More about us

  1. We are a family of four, Brett (dad), Jaye (mum) and two young children, a seven year old girl and a one year old boy.

  2. Brett is a boat captain, managing a small fleet of boats for a local luxury accommodation venue The Landing, which provides access via boat to the magnificent Bay of Islands, and Jaye blends stay at home mum time with being a senior town planner, working for a local multi-disciplinary firm called Vision Consulting Engineers and Planners.

  3. When we are at home, we love wide open spaces, big sunset and rural views, fine architecture and a sense of sanctuary every day, which is what we've created with our beautiful, spacious, and above all comfortable home. While travelling we look for similar comfort and access to interesting local attractions, ones that you would go to because you live there, not because you're a tourist... be that a beach, a bush walk, an historic village or experience, or something other of interest. We enjoy unique natural and man made experiences.
