About our home

Holiday house built in 2001. Surrounded by mountains and beautiful lake Hawea just a few minutes walk from the house with walk/bicycle track along lake front. Also a few minutes away is the start of walk/ bicycle track along Hawea river that goes all the way to township of Wanaka.

There is a local dairy (small grocery shop) with a restaurant and takeaways. And a Hotel with another restaurant. The house has modern facilities including dishwasher, washing machine, dryer and all linen and cooking utensils.
Double garage has a range of bikes (2 adults and 4 children).
Portable gas BBQ available.
Cleaner available.
House has beds for 7, extra mattresses and portacot.
There is room for a tent.
Wanaka is 15 minutes drive with plenty of shopping, a supermarket, cinemas, restaurants, 18 hole golf course, lake cruises and much more.

Queenstown is a 1 hour drive from Wanaka, also with a huge variety of activities - jetboating, scenic cruises, bungy jumping, walking / bicycle tracks, gold panning, Gondala to restaurant and luge, wildlife parks etc.

Or travel over to the West coast through the Haast pass to the Fox or Franz Joseph glaciers ( 3 hours drive).

There are 3 ski areas in the Wanaka region, Treble Cone, Cardrona and the Snowfarm.

There are many day walks with stunning veiws eg. Mt Iron, Mt Roy, Rob Roy Glacier, Millenium track. Other tracks taking two or more days with sleeping huts are also in the region. Information about these can be found at the information centre and the DOC centre in Wanaka.
Other things to do in Hawea/ Wanaka area include biking tracks, wineries, warbirds museum,('Warbirds over Wanaka' Air display at Easter) and of course swimming in the lake.
