About our home

Built as the original farmhouse in 1911 and completely renovated, our home has three bedrooms, dining, lounge, study, craft room and lock up garage, set among half an acre of lawn and gardens, plus another half acre of English trees. Facilities include a barbecue, outdoor dining areas under the pergola or sun umbrellas, two bicycles, left and right hand golf clubs, high speed internet and Sky TV. We are retired and can travel anywhere at anytime. We prefer long term exchanges of one month plus for long distance and often expensive to reach destinations. A Toyota Camry is included with the exchange. Reciprocal car exchange appreciated for exchanges outside of big cities would be welcome. Exchanges open to simultaneous or non- simultaneous.

Features

More about us

  1. Retired fit Kiwis and members of the lucky baby boom generation. We have completed eleven exchanges of one month plus in: Manhattan, Las Vegas, Plymouth, Chicago, Amsterdam, Menorca, Berlin, Prague, London, Dublin and Brisbane. Loved each one and have met some great people.

  2. Susan is a retired mother, while Gerald is a retired businessman, turned published author and photographer. Just Google his name for details. We do not post exchange experiences as we regard this an invasion of peoples privacy.

  3. We love complete quiet and utter darkness at night. Also the range of outdoor activities Central Otago offers. That is why we live here, having left the suburb of Remuera in Auckland in 2001.

We are located in the lower half of New Zealand's South Island, in the Central Otago village of Lauder, fronting the 152 kilometer Otago Central Rail Trail which attracts cyclists and walkers from all over the world. Our home is 1.25 hours from Queenstown, Wanaka, Hawea and Twizel. Fish for trout in the 130 local freshwater lakes, rivers, streams, dams and canals that are 200 meters to 1.5 hours from our property. A 12 month fishing licence is $130. Play golf on six local courses (green fees $10-15). Free camp beside the local lakes, rivers and dams.
