About our home

Comfortable, clean and spacious home. Four bedrooms (2 single, 2 double) & a study area upstairs with a bathroom. Downstairs consists of a lounge, family room & dining room with doors opening out on to a sunny deck. Also a kitchen & laundry plus a separate toilet and bathroom. Private garden with garage and carport. 50in TV, woodburner with wood supply, heatpump and air conditioner, vegetables in the garden with prolific grape vines, depending on season. 2 bicycles, car negotiable

We are an active, retired couple in our 60s (without being too specific), looking to see our family in London in 2017. I was a librarian and Simon a civil engineer before we retired. Open to times and other destinations, except not where there is a war going on.

Where is it?

Neighbourhood

20 min by commuter train into Wellington, capital city of NZ. Easy to get to the Westpac Stadium from Wellington Railway station. Wellington attractions include Te Papa (national museum of NZ and rated in top 20 of the world in a recent survey) and Weta Studios (home of Middle Earth in the Lord of the Rings and Hobbit series). Cultural attractions may not match London's, but we get our share. Bus stop, tennis and squash courts, good café, several takeaways within 5 mins walk. Longer walk to Golf course and Bridge club (10 mins) or Indoor and Outdoor Bowling and Petanque (20 mins).
Fresh water and sea fishing and mountain cycling nearby. 20min drive to tramping areas (bushwalking) where you can get lost or stay out overnight(s) in bush huts if you want to escape the city. 60min drive to wine country.
