About our home

Our classic art deco era home has been a cherished family home for 60 years, with quality additions to add space and character made over the years. It offers comfortable surroundings in cosy atmosphere, great for families who are looking for a real escape and to experience somewhere and something different.

Set on half an acre of park-like grounds, this home offers total privacy, peace and quiet in the middle of a small, friendly and welcoming town of Manaia in South Taranaki, on the coastal ring plain of majestic Maunga (Mount) Taranaki on the west coast of Te Ika A Maui (the fish of Maui, the North Island) of Aotearoa (New Zealand).

Our town offers all the amenities to make your stay perfect. A local library literally around the corner, a small supermarket, a bakery, a fuel stop, hairdresser, chemist, dairy (as in convenience store) art gallery, fish and chip shop and a new (at May 2017) pub that also serves meals.

Then there's the tennis courts, 18-hole golf course, community swimming pools that are free of charge during the summer months, sports fields, lawn bowling club and skatepark for the kids, all within a 15 minute walk. Then there are the numerous beaches beaches and surf spots that delight at every turn along the 90km of Surf Highway 45, which literaly runs through the middle of our town.

The renowned surf break at Opunake Beach and its township are a 20 minute drive west, while our district's biggest town of Hawera is a 10 minute drive east where you'll find the iconic water tower and a bit futher out the world-class Tawhiti Museum. A further 15 minutes west is the little town of Patea, a popular boating and surfing spot and home of the Patea Maori Club. Google 'Poi E' to learn more about this group's achievements.

Just 20 minutes north is Eltham, another small town and a mecca for cheese, second-hand shopping and art while just an hour's drive north is New Plymouth, our province's only city and home to amazing attractions like the coastal walkway, Len Lye centre and Puke Ariki.

In the heart of the dairying and energy industries, Manaia is a town which cares about each other and its visitors. You'll feel right at home!
