About our home

We have a lovely modernised cottage close to the sea (3 minutes walking). Open plan living. All the mod cons are available as well as internet access and Sky TV. Big screen projector TV, DVD and Video available. The gardens are currently being developed. There is a study which is combined music studio, sliding doors lead from here to the new addition our lovely outdoor entertaining area (nearly completed) which includes a large spa pool with 48 jets(whirlpool)and gas BBQ, swinging chair, large outdoor dining table. The main bedroom is decorated in rich red hughes and dutch antiques. We have a stationary house bus parked on the property which has been renovated with natural wood and looks really quaint. The bus is completely self contained and has a double and a single bed/sofa. Part of the house is a seperate self contained unit; this includes a double bed, a double sofa bed and small low ceiling study. I have a collection of local Hawke's Bay art throughout. The house has a warm creative feel.
The house is in Haumoana, a gorgeous little sea side settlement 15 minutes from both Hastings and Napier.

More about us

  1. I'm Eric de Vries and have been living in New Zealand for 20 years. I've been back in Holland in this period 3 x and would like to show my partner my home land (which I miss),Holland and Europe where she's never been. Her name is Charlotte.

I own a fine art supply store that provides art materials and art books. The shop is run by a manager.

Charlotte has two daughters in her care, they are 17yrs and 5 yrs. They are lovely well behaved children. They will more than likely not be travelling with us.

My interests at the moment are renovating, travelling, self developement, eating, sleeping, socialising, swimming, yoga, watching art programmes, playing music(guitar), cooking and reading.

We prefer to swap with people without dependent children unless they are very well behaved. There is plenty of privacy here with the diffenrent selfsufficient situations so 2 couples could work if you get on with each other.

Where is it?

A free tennis court is within walking distance. If you are coming to New Zealand and just spending one or two weeks Hawkes Bay will do your trip completejustice. There are other places to visit and not too far from this house as a base. Taupo with it's volcano's and lake is 1.5 hours away by car. Rotorua with it's sulphur smells and vulcanic attractions is 2 hours. Wellington the capital city is 4 hours away. The Hawke's Bay climate is one of the warmest in New Zealand and this wine region is a draw card not only for overseas tourist but for many New Zealanders who live elswhere in the country. Napier in particular is great to visit. It is famous for it's art deco style. Hawke's Bay is also renowned for its award winning wineries. These wineries are not only known for there excellent wines but also dining and lunches are a culinary delight. Outdoor activities close at hand. Mountains and hills to tramp with well indicated paths. Surfing sailing etc. Stone beach is just around the corner. Sand beaches 20 mins drive.
