About our home

In light of the current Covid-19 outbreak, we are no longer offering our bach or swapping for the foreseeable future. Hope you stay well and let's see what happens in the next twelve months. We will reconsider later in the year.

Our large, stylish renovated bach is located across the road from the beach in beautiful Ngakuta Bay, a small community with a gorgeous pristine bay at the doorstep. Located just 20 minutes from the popular tourist town of Picton on Queen Charlotte Drive, we offer uncompromised views of the glorious waters of the Queen Charlotte Sound and our stunning little bay.

There are two double-bedrooms, plus a bunk room that sleeps 6-8 (downstairs). The larger master bedroom is located downstairs with it's own ensuite and WIR, the second bedroom is upstairs and features a lovely queen size sleigh bed, with a large family bathroom located adjacent, with a large bath, shower and vanity and on the same level there is a laundry with a new front-loading washing machine.

The kitchen/dining area is spacious with seating for 6-8 at the dining table, with views out over the bay. The entire side of the kitchen servery (windows) open out onto a lovely kitchen courtyard that is surrounded by nature. The kitchen is fully equipped with a new electric oven, gas cooktop, a microwave and a large fridge/freezer and on the kitchen deck there is a large outdoor BBQ and a large "drinks fridge" with icemaker.

On the top level we have a big outdoor living area (deck) with an 8 seater outdoor table, with a large sun umbrella and a lovely sitting area under a vine covered pergola that looks out over the wonderful view. Inside is a very comfortable sitting room with 2 large 3-seater leather sofas and a 52 inch flat screen TV.

Just a short walk down to the beach, or for those of you that love to hike, we have some of New Zealand's most sought after walks including the Queen Charlotte Track at our doorstep. The natural surrounds are a nature lovers delight with many native birds and animals. A lovely 30 minute walk away along the coastal track, through Punga (tree fern) lined paths, you'll also find stunning Momorangi Bay and a great coffee shop. See more about the Queen Charlotte Track here: http://www.qctrack.co.nz

There is parking available on the property and a mooring buoy on request (subject to availability).

Where is it?

Neighbourhood

The house is tucked away in a quiet corner of peaceful Ngakuta Bay. We are surrounded by native bush land, fantastic walks along the coastline and through pristine bushland and only a short 20 minute drive from the large town of Picton, which offers regular ferry services across to Wellington on the north island.

We have lovely neighbours who live full time in the bay on one side and good friends who visit the bay regularly on the other.

It's a quiet community that comes alive during the summer holidays with all sorts of water sports, hiking and food/wine tours available.

We are only a 40 minute drive to Blenheim, the Sauvignon Blanc capital of New Zealand and you'll find wonderful tours and places to partake of delicious wines and food of the region.

Buzzy restaurants
The Captains Daughter, Havelock. Many to choose from in Picton and Blenheim, along with the many wineries located nearby.
