“This was a lovely home in a great location at beautiful Omaha Beach, with plenty to do in the surrounding area. Our hosts were very helpful in every way and we relaxed completely while there. It suited us perfectly and we recommend it for beach-lovers who also like to get out into gorgeous small communities, walk coastal and inland, and take in some of the more boutique aspects of this popular area., such as Matakana village. ”

We have meet lovely people who will remain our friends. Now we look forward to welcoming you to our home next year Thanks Robyn and Cameron”
“What a fabulous location. Far exceeded our expectations. Our favourite home exchange so far! Robyn & Cam were more than welcoming and we loved meeting them and having them host us for dinner upon arrival from Canada, we are friends now! The house exceeded the photos also. We were very comfortable and happy. We loved going to the estuary (2 minutes walk) and swimming each morning, then the 5km surf beach (5 minutes walk) in the afternoon. The tiny beach coffee shop at Omaha was delightful and we loved to walk or ride the bikes there for coffee and goodies. Don't miss the Matakana Market - delightful. We could have stayed a month. We never got bored or ran out of things to do while enjoying being one of the locals. Definitely a 5 star. ”
Where is it?
Omaha beach is a well known upmarket beach community one hour north of Auckland. It is a narrow spit with the harbour on one side, a sheltered coastal beach on the other and bird reserve at the North end
It is ideally located by the beautiful wine growing area of Matakana. Small boutique vineyards, cafes, restaurants and galleries are dotted around the area. The Marine reserve of Goat Island is 20 minutes away where you can swim with the fish or observe through a glass bottomed boat or kayak. Tawharanui regional park is bikeable and good hiking nearby.
A golf course is 500 m up the road.
The reknown Matakana markets are very popular on saturday morning. A good base from which to explore Northland NZ.
