About our home

Our home is in a nice quiet area, it has a separate lounge, kitchen and dining room with access to a lovely private garden courtyard with outdoor table and chairs where you can sit and enjoy the sun and the birdsong. There is a heatpump and a multi fuel burner to keep you warm in winter.

There is a super king sized bed in the master bedroom and a sliding door to the courtyard. In the second bedroom is a queen sized bed and the third two single beds.

There is a double garage with internal access into the house.

The back gate opens out onto a native bush reserve and walkway. The river, recreational reserve and beach is 5 minutes drive away and Invercargill city is 6 minutes.

We also have a holiday cottage on the east coast at Hampden, it is 600 metres from the beach and close to Moeraki Boulders which may be available for swap or hire. Pictures attached.

More about us

  1. We are Janet and Colin. I am a Manager for the local council and Colin is in Animal Welfare work for the Government. We like to escape our busy work life by travelling now that all our children have grown. Occasionally my sister and her husband from Brisbane accompany us.

We have been involved in many very successful and happy home exchanges in Australia, UK, France, Ireland, Portugal and Spain. We will consider anywhere. Let us know if you are interested. Kind Regards Janet and Colin

  2. We love nature and our home set in New Zealand’s native bush surrounded by wonderful birdlife.

Neighbourhood

Our home is situated 6 Kms from the Invercargill CBD in a quiet neighbourhood.

The beach is 4 kms away, Invercargill airport 4 kms. There are many beautiful natural sites to see around Southland such as the Catlins area with seals, penguins and dolphins, also nearby are Riverton, Stewart Island. Slightly further away a 2 -3 hour drive takes you to Te Anau and Milford Sound, Queenstown and the Central Otago lakes district which is very beautiful.

For the adventurous there is great white shark diving, jet boating, paragliding and Bungy jumping. Tramping in the national parks, fishing and hunting are also popular pastimes. Visit the glow worm caves and cruise the majestic fiords by boat or take a BBQ cruise on the steamship Earnslaw to a working sheep station on Lake Wakatipu.

Invercargill is a small city of 55,000. Southland's main industries are dairy, fishing, sheep farming and forestry.

Closest international airports are Dunedin or Queenstown. Dunedin, Christchurch and Wellington international airports have regular daily flights to Invercargill.
