About our home

Our's is the last house on a bluff above a beautiful, private beach. There is a path down to the sand and the sea, which is ideal for swimming, boating, fishing, and sometimes surfing. The house is virtually all windows with panoramic views of the water and nearby islands from every room. The living room and master bedroom both open to a large deck offering an amazing outlook. The cottage has open plan living with a 55" flat screen with a vast selection of channels and a blueray DVD player. We are the end of a quiet road. There is a seaside organic garden of flowers and vegetables that is next to a large green space.

We're Jillian and Mark, a recently retired couple. We have traveled extensively and lived in both New Zealand and the U.S. We have two adult children and a boxer. We're sure you'll enjoy the ambiance of Paekakariki, the excitement of Wellington and find the feeling of the cottage breathtaking.

Where is it?

Neighbourhood

We live in Paekakariki, a small seaside village on the Kapiti Coast. It is less than an hour on the local train or by car from New Zealand's capital, Wellington, a vibrant city of museums, cafes, and shops. Paekakariki has one commercial street with cafes, a pub, a boutique movie theater, a deli (with wood-fired pizza), a grocery, and organic fruit and vegetable shops. There are public tennis courts, a library, wonderful biking and hiking trails, and seaside parks. The Paekakariki Escarpment portion of the nationwide Te Araroa hiking track begins right around the corner. The walk is known as the "Stairway to Heaven" because of its spectacular views, but it's no match for the sunsets you'll enjoy from our deck. Kapiti Airport is 15 minutes away and Wellington International Airport is less than an hour.
