About our home
We've been in our new house for a couple of years now and its very near the previous location where we enjoyed hosting a number of home exchanges.
We've built a single level, 2 bedroom, 1 study, 2 living area house with outside living space. Its light and airy and reasonably spacious.
The garden foliage has grown up finally and provides a lovely peaceful out door living area thats sheltered, private and faces north for the sun.
The master bedroom has an en-suite and walk in robe. The second bedroom also has a queen bed and the main bathroom is handily right next to it.
We have an open plan kitchen / dining area looking out onto part of the deck. A large screen TV brings 70+ channels and there is a music system as well.
In addition to our house you can also have access to a family cottage in the Wairarapa, about 10km from Riversdale Beach on the east coast. Its an older cottage thats been refurbished and situated right in middle of the countryside and surrounded by a rambling garden and fields with cattle and sheep. Theres a pub with evening meals about 15 minutes drive away - or use the kitchen! Lovely for a few days relaxation.

Hello - we are Sue and Barry, a married couple with grown up children. Barry is retired (owned his own small business) and Sue is a manager with an importing co. We like to travel when we can get away, and like to home swap as we know from previous swaps this is a great way to experience another neighbourhood instead of the usual hotel scenario. We think it's probably more restful plus the suggestions of what to see and do made by our fellow exchangers are often not made by tourist operators. We would treat your house etc with care and consideration. We have completed exchanges previously - one to Adelaide (Australia) and the other to a small village near Perpignan in France. Both exchanges went very well.

A gentle 8 minute stroll on the flat takes you to the local village shops where you can find cafes, pubs, a bowling club plus a butcher, bakery, food and vege store, hairdressers, clothing and gifts,2nd hand book shop, chemist, doctors and dentist. Walk another minute to Raumati Beach which is safe for swimming, walking and lovely sunsets.
Wellington city is just 45 mins drive or 50 minutes on the train. If you are keen on the outdoors there are lots of bush and beach walks plus Kapiti Island Nature Reserve. Wineries are just over an hours drive. NZ is a country of beautiful and often spectacular scenery, much of which is accessible from our house.
5 minutes drive away is a mid size shopping mall. We are ideally situated for lots of local activities (golf, tennis, bowls, art galleries et) or as a base for wandering further afield.
