Our home is nestled into the rugged and beautiful Kapiti coast line. It is two storied and built to make the most of the beautiful views. The home has large open entertainment areas, with a contemporary apartment like feel. Built 5 years ago it is light, warm and welcoming with a NZ touch. Upstairs is the large master bedroom with an ensuite, visitors toilet and open plan lounge, dining and kitchen. There are landscape views from each window. Summer is spent on the upstairs deck listening to the birds and enjoying a cold NZ wine and a barbecued lamb chop. Downstairs there is an office, bathroom with spa bath, laundry and 3 guest rooms. Each bedroom has bi-folding doors opening onto a large deck area and the native reserve.
We are a middle aged (55 and 56 years old) working business couple. We moved to the Coast two years ago and found this wonderful lifestyle and have never been happier. Previously we lived in Christchurch, thankfully shortly after the earthquakes we visited Paraparaumu Beach for a weekend and quickly fell in love with the area and people so moved here!
We are avid travellers always planning our next adventure - for us every moment is an opportunity.
The house boundary is a scientific reserve and estuary - every day the vista is different, rich sunsets and clear blue skies. Swimming in the sea and daily walks on the beach are a must.
Five minutes away by car or 20 minutes if walking are cafes, restaurants and a fabulous Saturday locals market.
Tourists like to have either a helicopter or glider flight over the coast, you will be amazed at the views. Alternatively a round of golf at Paraparaumu - where Tiger Woods played in the NZ open. We can leave some golf clubs all ready for you. Or how about the best fish and chips in NZ while sitting on the beach watching the sunset over the island.
Walking tracks into native bush are abound, with the Waikanae river just 5 minutes away from our house. A popular fishing and white-baiting spot for the locals.
From the handy shopping area you can catch a boat to Kapiti Island a Department of Conservation Island rich in fauna and home to many protected NZ birds.
If you desire more city life it is only 45 minutes by train into Wellington, our capital city. There you will find our most treasured museum TePapa, parliament buildings, plenty of shopping and some fantastic restaurants and night spots.
There are numerous Museums in the Kapiti area, the famous Southwards Car Museum is just one. The coast is known for its rich Maori culture and heritage.
