“We have just completed a two week exchange with Penny and Iain and highly recommend an exchange with them. Their home is located in an excellent position to explore Wellington and the surrounding area. Penny and Iain\'s home is very comfortable, organised and clean and we loved waking up to the beautiful views each morning. They left our home exactly as they found it. They also looked after our cat, Cy and took great care of him. Thank you Penny and Iain.”

Where is it?
Our home is in a beautiful area 20 minutes from the centre of the capital, Wellington. There is a beach nearby as well as a swimming pool, a boutique cinema, a number of restaurants and cafes, and numerous places to walk and explore around the area. There are also a number of golf courses nearby. Pataka Museum in Porirua holds a number of interesting exhibitions.
Drive into the centre of Wellington in around 20 minutes or take the train which runs approximately every half hour into Wellington.
Wellington is a beautiful compact city and easy to walk around.
Enjoy the huge selection of excellent cafes and restaurants. A visit to Te Papa, New Zealand's National Museum, is a must - it is free and you are guaranteed to spend several hours there and maybe return another day. Take a ride in the cable car up to the top of the Botanic Gardens and walk down back through the gardens. Walk up Mt Kau Kau or Mt Victoria for outstanding views of Wellington. Tour the Parliament buildings. Walk around the waterfront and enjoy the weekend markets. Enjoy a concert; the theatre; relax watching your favourite sport; or visit Peter Jackson's Weta Cave (Lord of the Rings/the Hobbit); or take a trip on the ferry over to the South Island through the stunning Marlborough Sounds.
Visit the Martinborough vineyards in the Wairarapa which are an hour's drive from our house, over the Rimutaka Hills. Sample some wines and enjoy lunch while you are there.
Drive north up the coast from our house along the beautiful coastal road past Pukerua Bay towards Paraparaumu and Waikanae. Paraparaumu is approx 20 minutes away and Waikanae about 35. Visit Kapiti Island and try to eat your lunch before the kaka birds snatch it from you! Southward Car Museum in Paraparaumu is another attraction not to be missed.
