Situated in Rangataua, which is a quiet peaceful village located only 5 minutes from the bustling vibrant town of Ohakune and the entrance way to Turoa ski field.
The lodge has an open plan kitchen looking out to a view of Mt Ruapehu, The living area is open plan with breakfast bar dining area nearer the kitchen side of the lounge.
The lounge is warm and rustic and has a modern vintage 2 + 3 seater comfortable couch's. It includes a large 42' inch flat screen telly, huge library of DVDS to select from and the fireplace which once is going heats up the entire living space within minutes. Stay extra warm and cosy while you snuggle up and drink milos near after an epic day on the mountain enjoying the snow.
The kitchen and dinning area are open plan to the lounge providng heat to all from the fire and an inclusive ambience with the backdrop of the mighty mountain in the background, which can be seen from all living areas. If you want a closer look just walk out the french doors chapel stlye onto the wrap around deck, breath in the fresh air , check out the mountain and determine your own ski report!
The kitchen has a solid pine breakfast bar with stools. There is also a seperate dining table which seats four and is surrounded by wrap around windows with a view to the mountain. So you can polish off breakfast while planning your runs for the day!
The house has polished wooden floors with older carpets in the bedrooms and scattered rugs
Some of the window surrounds are in need of a paint.
Piwari lodge has three bedrooms sleeping 9-10
There are two bedrooms each consisting of queen beds both with electric blankets and spare blankets if needed. Both rooms also include oil heaters that heat the rooms nicely. The third bedroom is a huge rumpus room perfect for all the kids to retreat too, the room consists of a set of bunks, a single bed, and a king bed, all fitted with electric blankets, duvets, sheets, and extra warm blankets if needed. There is also a oil heater in the room and a huge selection of board games for all the family to enjoy.
There is a bathroom with bath/shower and a separate toilet in the hallway by the bedrooms.
In nearby Ohakune there is all the amenities including gas station, post shop, cafes, restraunts, supermarket, bottle store, ski and snow board hire and repair. ( we reccomend TCB)
There is plenty of off street parking at Piwari lodge.
Ohakune has plenty of other entertainment when things dont work out quite your way with the mountain. There are cycle tracks, a boutique cinema (the oldest cinema in NZ), night clubs, Indoor rock climbing, BMX track, indoor and outdoor skate parks, river kayaking and boating and many walking tracks like the tongariro crossing.
