“We spent 3 weeks in NZ at Ben's house. It is a lovely 1 floor house. Very quiet and well equipped. Our stay was nice and Ben's relatives helped us out when needed. I can't say I will go back soon because it is a very long way but I would if I could teleport myself.”

Where is it?
For a visitor, Rotorua is unique. It is the main centre of Maori culture in New Zealand with a high Maori population. You can experience Maori singing, dancing and of course the Haka which you may have heard before the All Blacks play rugby. Also there are the Maori arts and crafts for gifts to take home with you.
Rotorua is a town within the crater of an extinct volcano. It sits beside Lake Rotorua which you can explore by boat and plane. Nearby lakes are spectacular and have interesting stories to tell, like the eruption of Mt Tarawera in 1886, which drastically altered the levels of the lakes and submerged the Pink and White Terraces which had attracted horse-drawn visitors from many countries.
Rotorua is a thermal area, with steam rising from the edge of the Lake. It is the home of the Pohutu Geyser which springs into life every 20 minutes. There are thermal pools where you can "take the waters" and mud baths if you wish. The Visitor Information Centre in town gives many possibilities for interesting and unusual activities as well as all sports and recreation facilities. Rotora is a year round destination with excellent trout fishing, three golf courses, walks, and is near the ski fields. Go online and be surprised.
