About our home

The house is on the edge of an estuary with beautiful sea and rural views. There is a surf beach ten minutes walk and a 5 minute walk to local shops and restaurants. There is a large private garden with mature trees The house has been built as a holiday home, and is casual and relaxed. It is built on 2 levels with one bedroom downstairs, with outside access, and the other bedroom upstairs in the main part of the house. Both bedrooms have queen-sized beds. The decor is colourful and eclectic. There is also a detached artist's studio which is available if required and a self-contained Campervan is also available suited to 2 people.
There is an outside balcony and a patio with space for dining and a bbq.

  1. Residents of New Zealand. We are a mature couple with extensive experience of house sitting and exchanges. We speak English and French. We are active and follow the arts, culture and architecture. We are interested in meeting people from other cultures and also keen to show New Zealand to other people.

Where is it?

Neighbourhood

Situated on an estuary with swimming just across the road or nearby. Surf beach is 5 minutes away. Tairua is a small village on the Coromandel Peninsula, an area of exceptional natural beauty, known for its forested hills and pure white beaches. All water sports, hot pools, golf, fishing and hiking are available. Local restaurants and markets specialize in regional produce. Local transport is limited to buses, so best to have a car.
An easy 2 hour drive from Auckland city. New Zealand's major city, and its international airport. Also a 2 hour drive from Rotorua, with its thermal attractions and Maori culture. Winter skiing is a 3.5 hour drive away.
