About our home

We have just returned from a successful exchange in Perth, Australia. Due to health issues we are limiting our exchanges to the Gold Coast Australia, perhaps around Pacific Pines/Runaway Bay area. Our brick home has 3 bedrooms/2 bathrooms, and 2wcs, one bedroom is the computer room, with broadband, and the garage is in the basement underneath. There is a queen size bed in the master bedroom and a double bed in the guest room downstairs. We have the usual household appliances, dishwasher, new washing machine, dryer, microwave etc, We request non smokers, no children or pets. We are happy to mind a cat. We overlook Tauranga Harbour with expansive views. The beach is just a 10 minutes walk away. There are thermal hot pools, golfing, walking, restaurants, library, and some local shops. The climate is mild throughout the year, Summer temperatures rarely exceed 31 C. There are stunning sunsets.

Where is it?

Our home is in beautiful Omokoroa, on a pensinsular in the Tauranga Harbour, in the North Islands Bay of Plenty, New Zealand. Tauranga is a beautiful city of 100,000, just over 20 minutes drive from our place and within easy reach of Mt Maunganui for surfing and swimming. We have a new automatic 2006 Honda Jazz to exchange, this is very economical to run. A car is necessary. Auckland is 2.5 hours drive from here, Hamilton 1.5 hours, Rotorua 1 hour, (to the renowned thermal areas) and the Central Plateau (Mountains, skiing) is 3 hours drive. We are 15 minutes drive from the mural township of Katikati and 1/2 hour further on is the gold mining town of Waihi. Although the goldrush days are over, gold mining is once again taking place there. The guided tour is very popular with the tourists.
