Built in 2015, this beautiful house contains all the features required for a family get-away. It's unique placement on the hills of Motunau Beach provide tranquil views of the ocean and rural countryside. It is also conveniently close to the the nearest beach access and boat ramp.
The location is approximately 1 hour north of Christchurch in a small fishing village. It is an ideal place to unwind and relax without the hustle and bustle of the city. The panoramic views of the sea and surrounding farms are stunning. The west boundary of the property is a working farm so we often see cows grazing in the paddock nearby.
There are no shops in the village. The nearest supermarket is about half an hour away. There is however a beautiful restaurant just 10 minutes from the property. If you are adventurous enough you could charter a fishing boat with the area being well known for an abundance of blue cod and crayfish. At low tide you can walk for miles on the beach with very few people around. Hanmer Springs a thermal resort is about an hour and a half away. Kaikoura where you can go Whale watching is also a similar distance away. There are vineyards within half an hour away.

“We had a most enjoyable and relaxing stay at Motunau beach. Stephen's fully equipped and comfortable home had everything you could want at hand, the wrap-around deck meant there was always a sheltered spot to enjoy the expansive views, keep an eye on the boats and watch the sun go down. The local area is well worth exploring, the beach below the house is good for swimming, beachcombing and walks at low tide. Thank you Stephen for the chance to get to know this region.”
“If you want a peaceful and beautiful location then this is the spot. It was perfect for us to relax and get totally away from the world. The house itself is pristine, well equipped modern and comfortable with gorgeous views across the sea. The village of Motunau is more of a settlement as there are no service facilities but it is very pleasant. The main activity is fishing and we enjoyed watching the boats leave and return. We were warned to stock up before we arrived as the nearest supermarket is 100km round trip. We didn't find a nearer shop, but there is a cafe and pub on the junction with SH1. Both offer good fare. We enjoyed the house swap and it was a good experience. Thank you for the opportunity. ”

It was very remote and I would advise that you stock up well before arriving. The house was comfortable and it was perfect for us as a family. Thank you for having us. ”
“Stephen was super easy to communicate with and made us very welcome in his holiday home. We only spent 1 night there on our way up north (during winter) so were, unfortunately, unable to explore the area, however, we enjoyed the waterfront aspect from inside as well as the well-prepared fire and general coziness of Stephen's home. The pantry was exceptionally well stocked with every spice imaginable too! A very welcoming host and generally pleasant stay not far from the main road but far enough to enjoy the peaceful environment. Thanks, Stephen! ”
