Built as a family holiday home the house is warm & cosy (with wood burning stove & heat pump/air conditioner)and has a country cottage feel about it.There is good indoor outdoor living space with ranchslider door leading out from the living room on to a large deck & garden where we enjoy all day sun on fine days. The garden is private, quiet & peaceful with plenty of trees & birdlife.
There is a Queen master bedroom ,one twin bedroom + one bedroom with two bunk beds.
We enjoy a relaxed low key lifestyle with interests in the arts (I paint),fishing, walking & travel.I co manage an art & craft gallery/ adventure mini golf in the town centre 4 days a week & my partner is semi retired. We have two cats who also enjoy a very relaxed low key lifestyle, all they ask is that they be fed twice a day if you are around otherwise our super neighbours will usually keep an eye on them.
We love to travel & are open to offers anywhere including New Zealand destinations. The exchange could be non simultaneaous as we have other property we can use or exchange including two small cottages, one in the river area & another overlooking Lake Taupo.
Will be visiting England & France with my daughter for 4 weeks from mid June next year 2012. Would like a week in or around Cheshire,Oxfordshire,The Cotswolds or Sussex.
Situated in the dramatic landscape of the central North Island & close to Lake Taupo, the Southern Hemisphere's largest fresh water lake and the Tongariro National Park - a World Heritage site -Turangi, at the southern end of Lake Taupo,is 40 minutes drive from Taupo Township,1.5 hours from Rotorua & 4 hours from either Auckland or Wellington. An easy scenic drive of approximately 2.5 hours takes us to the beaches of the East Coast areas of Hawkes Bay with it's wineries & Art Deco city of Hastings or to the Whakatane/Opotiki/East Cape district with its great unspoilt beaches, fishing & swimming.
My house is in a quiet leafy street just across the road from the famous (for those keen trout fishermen)Tongariro River,a favorite place to walk with riverside tracks going for many miles in either direction. A 5 minute walk takes you to the Visitor information Network Information centre, bus station & small town centre shopping mall with a supermarket & the usual town centre shops such as a Post Office, pharmacy & bakery. There are several nearby restaurants within walking distance from home.
Our close proximity to Lake Taupo with its fishing, boating & swimming and the many walks in the area including the volcanic zone of Tongariro National Park (also good skiing in winter) attracts many visitors though it is never overcrowded & you can always find a peaceful spot to yourself by the lake a river or in the beautiful native bush.
