About our home

As New Zealand has closed its borders to anybody other than Kiwis returning home, we are sorry to say that we cannot accept overseas requests at this time.

We have two houses on offer - one is our primary residence located just outside of Masterton in the Wairarapa Valley. It is 1 1/2 hours from Wellington, 2.5 hours from Hawkes Bay. Local attractions include bike trails amongst the Martinborough vineyards, the well known Remutaka rail bike ride, the jaw dropping lighthouse and lagoon of Castlepoint, Lord of the Rings pinnacles at Ngawi, etc (all within 1 to 1.5 hours from Masterton). Our secondary residence is a right on the beach bach at Waimoana Station (near Glenburn). This is a 3 bedroom bach with outside cabins, with hot tub and fire pit. Glenburn is one hour east of Masterton on the East Coast - part of the road is gravel.

More about us

  1. Phil and Jeanette are business owners who love living in the Wairarapa.

  2. We have two businesses - one is training in personal finances, small business and project management, small machinery and vehicles; and the other is a product development business. Phil has invented a few products, one of which is Safe-eyes, mesh goggles, that are exported.

  3. We love the outdoors - walks, diving, fishing, travelling, cooking beautiful produce, and looking after our first 5 month old grandchild

Neighbourhood

We are located in the wine valley of the Wairarapa in the lower half of the North Island. We are 1.5 hours away from Wellington. There is a lot to do in the Wairarapa - hiking in the Tararua Mountains (our favourite 1.5 hour hiking return trip is to Rocky Lookout); visiting our beautiful beaches - the famous Castlepoint (which has a lighthouse, lagoon and Castlerock to climb); or Riversdale. We have a stonehenge just like the one in England, but much newer, called Stonehenge Aotearoa which has magical tales of the stones; biking around the wine town of Martinborough; or shopping in the oldest inland town, quaint Greytown.
We also have a bach on the wild east coast which is perched right on the beach. In the rocks in front are crayfish, paua and fish. There is also a hot tub. Lots of swimming, hill climbing and relaxing to be had at the bach.

Buzzy restaurants
Screening Room, Masterton has delicious tapa plates and also a bespoke picture theatre. In Greytown, Pinnochio is a favourite restaurant. There are also lots of other cool restaurants in Martinborough.
Retail therapy
Greytown is known as the shopping centre of the Wairarapa with antiques, and beautiful furniture, as well as garden centres and beautiful clothes shops.
Bit of culture
Pukaha is the home of NZ's only white kiwis. There is eel feeding and kaka feeding and lots of family activities.
Day tripping
You can get to Wonderful Wellington in a train which goes through beautiful scenery or there is a drive over the Pass. Lots of activities to do in Wellington. In 2.5 hours you will be at art deco Napier and Havelock North. The Ngawi coast is a wonderful 1.5 hour trip to see the seals, lighthouse and Lord of the Rings pinancles.
