About our home

Century-old villa in peaceful rural setting. Sleeps up to four people. Enjoy open fires, an outdoor bath, fruit and vegetables from the garden, and taste the best of New Zealand country life.

The house is in the central South Island, three hours from Queenstown, two hours from Aoraki Mt Cook and Lake Tekapo, and three hours from Christchurch.

It’s situated in a beautiful country area dotted with sheep, beef and dairy farms. There's a country pub five minutes away by car. The little country town of Waimate is about 15 minutes away. Be prepared for total relaxation and switching off from the world.

This warm and welcoming house has been faithfully restored over the years. It has beautiful timber floors, a modern kitchen, modern bathroom (tiled, underfloor heating), a new laundry, and a wood burner, and heat pump. The furnishings are a mix of modern and antique, and the walls are adorned with New Zealand art.

Comfortably sleeps four people - one king bed and one queen bed.

You have access to the house, and the surrounding garden and orchard where you can pick your own fruit - pears, plums, apricots - during January, February, and March. You’re welcome to eat vegetables and herbs from the garden as well.

Cellphone coverage is patchy; there's a land-line you can use.

The studio building that you see as you enter the property may also be available for your use - please enquire.
