About our home

Our home is a spacious wooden two story bungalow (Lockwood home) on the beach front. The large front lawn has a small track leading down to white sand and a very safe swimming beach. The house has 2 spacious decks for outdoor living. The sound of the waves sends you to sleep at night and the brilliant sun rises over the sea in front of the house in the morning.
We live in a very quiet street... a lot of our neighbours are only here in the holiday season.

Where is it?

Neighbourhood

Waihi Beach offers nine kilometers of sweeping white sand with one of the safest surf breaks in New Zealand. The winter population is only 3 thousand people but numbers swell in the summer months (December to March) to approx 20 thousand. There is a small shopping centre 5 minutes walk from the house where most necessities are available.
The towns of Waihi and Katikati, both with their own special attractions, are just 15-20 minutes away by car and the city of Tauranga is less than an hour's drive south. The property is located less than two hours drive south of the Auckland CBD and is situated at the base of the beautiful and scenic Coromandel Peninsula.
Keen walkers can take the track to Orokawa Bay from the north end of Waihi Beach (45 min) or carry on to Homunga Bay (2.5 hours), returning the same way or arranging a pick-up at Ngatitangata Rd. This is a magnificent coastal walk with the option of a side trip to a waterfall.
For boaties, fishermen, skiers, swimmers, kayakers and picnickers, the combination of beach and harbour in close proximity provides a fantastic playground.
There's surfing, biking, fishing, mini-golf, walks with amazing views, art and crafts, history, and plenty of summer entertainment.
