About our home

Our house is a double story, brick and timber town house. Master bedroom and a single bedroom are upstairs, plus small bathroom with vanity, toilet and shower cabinet. Downstairs is a double bedroom, kitchen, lounge/dining with French doors to patio, bathroom with vanity, bath and shower cabinet, seperate toilet, laundry. Lovely private back section with lawn, garden and patio. Very private, quiet and lots of birds.

More about us

Our names are Stephen and Patricia and we have been retired for 14 years. Patricia enjoys golf and plays bridge. Stephen plays lawn bowls. We both enjoy cycling. We like to travel as much as we can. We have a daughter and grandson of 15 years, and a son and daughter in law.

Where is it?

Neighbourhood

Waikane is a small village town, approximately 9000 people. It has a beautiful and safe beach. Kapiti Island, which is a bird sanctuary, is just off shore and you can visit with permission obtained before hand. Waikanae started off as a holiday area, then developed into a popular retirement area and now it is a place for just as many young families as older people. There are two large primary schools and another to be built. There is a public swimming pool set in a park, lovely for picnics. There is a river, with walk and cycling track on both sides of the river, which extends from the garden area all the way to the beach. Lots of walks in the area. Climate is very moderated, winter and summer. There is a good golf course, two bowling clubs and a tennis club. Waikanae (pronounced why can eye) is 70ks from the city, Wellington, and it is one hour by train and one hour to drive. We are 7ks from the beach and walking distance to the river.
