About our home

We live in a peaceful country farmhouse, this is an older home with a modern feel due to recent renovations. We have spectacular views of Mt Tarawera from living room.

The master bedroom and ensuite is separated from the main body of the house by a large family room which is heated by a large Kent fire, the heat transfer unit circulates the heat to the bedrooms.

The kitchen has a 90cm cooker and a walk in pantry. The open-plan dining area flows freely to a deck and another sitting room/music room.

The 3 children's bedrooms are all doubles, the 5th bedroom is a sleepout attached to the rear of the house.

The garden contains an in-ground ten meter swimming pool with views from Rainbow Mountain to Mt Tarawera. Also a hen house, glass house and beautiful potager.

Previously this home was operated as a B&B.

More about us

  1. Rose & Darren have been happily married for 16 years. We have 6 beautiful children (5 girls and 1 boy) aging from 15 down to 3 years. Darren is a veterinary surgeon, Rose is a stay at home mother.

Our hobbies include dining out, most sports especially triathlons, mountainbiking, running to name a few.

We are yet to experience a home exchange but are looking forward to exploring this exciting method of seeing other parts of our own country as well as countries abroad.

We are a pretty relaxed family and realise that not everyone has a home as large as us, we are happy to swap for a smaller home and our kids are quite happy to sleep on couches etc if the need arises.

Where is it?

We live in the beautiful Waimangu Volcanic Valley a popular tourist spot. Natural thermal springs are abundant, you can even pop 10 mins up the road to bathe freely under a natural thermal waterfall.

We are 15 mins drive to some of the best mountain biking tracks in the world in the Whakarewarewa forest. (we have a few mountain bikes and a couple of kayaks in the garage you are free to use)

Several beautiful lakes and trout streams are within 30 mins drive. Fabulous walking tracks nearby.

20 minute drive to the Polynesian Pools & Spa (voted top 10 in the world for day spa resort).

Lots of excellent eating establishments within a 20 minute drive.

Lots of activities nearby for adrenalin junkies eg whitewater rafting/sledging, zorbing, bungy jumping, paragliding, parachuting, lugeing.

We have a friendly neighbourhood despite the fact we live in a relatively secluded, peaceful spot.
