About our home

My house is situated in a pleasant suburb immediately above the Wellington Botanical Gardens: the views across the Gardens to the harbour and the hills beyond are superb. The city centre is 6 -7 minutes away by car, and there is a regular bus service into the city from the end of the street (2-3 minute walk). Access to the house is flat (drive to the door). The front door opens onto an entrance hall and living room and then there are three wide steps (with handrails) down to the kitchen and dining room level. The two principal bedrooms each with its own en suite, and the laundry, are on a lower level again. There is separate guest accommodation with en suite, frig, and microwave above the double garage. The house is sunny and the large windows give panoramic 180degree views of our beautiful city.

More about us

I am a widow with children and grandchildren living here in Wellington and in Auckland. When my husband was alive, we travelled extensively: I am keen to visit England (where I was born)again and undertake some travel on the Continent. I have not tried a Home Exchange before but my daughter and her family have done, with excellent results. I am a retired school teacher, a keen bird-watcher and am interested in the theatre, reading and classical history and art.

Where is it?

Neighbourhood

Northland is a safe environment conveniently situated on the hills directly above the city. The street is a cul-de-sac and the house is quiet and private. I am within walking distance of Zealandia, NZ's world famous nature sanctuary, and the Otari Native Plant Reserve. The city is small so it is easy to get around and the areas immediately north have vineyards, boutique shopping and stretches of sandy beaches.
