About our home

We built our house to catch the sun all day and maximize the view over Arkles Bay. Set in garden and bush, 400 metres from the beach, the house has large decks and extensive glass.

It has open plan kitchen, dining, family room and lounge. Off the lounge are two large decks - one furnished for outdoor dining under a large sunshade sail.

The master bedroom has semi-ensuite and it's own terrace. There are two other bedrooms, sleeping three (2 + 1). The house is on two levels, with all living on the top level and garaging below. It is not suitable for small children.

More about us

  1. Trevor is a retired Baptist Pastor and church consultant. In retirement, he set up a garden and landscape business. Lesley is a retired medical receptionist. We have 3 married children and 8 grandchildren.

Trevor has sailed all his life and we own a large cruising keeler, sleeping 6, berthed locally. If we have a non-simultaneous exchange, we would be able to offer some skippered cruising among the Gulf Islands if you were interested.

Where is it?

Arkles Bay is one of 12 beaches on the Whangaparaoa Peninsula, on the northern outskirts of Auckland city. The peninsula has 2 large marinas, 3 golf courses, 11 restaurants, 10 cafes and a number of fast-food outlets.

700 metres from our house is the Plaza Shopping Centre which has dozens of shops, a movie complex, 10-pin bowling and a large supermarket.

Arkles Bay itself is a sheltered sandy beach with a tree-shaded esplanade. You can swim at all tides.

Access to central Auckland is by motorway (30 minutes), by bus or by ferry. There are many coastal walks on the peninsula which has hundreds of acres of parkland.

Whangaparaoa is a gateway to the world famous Hauraki Gulf Islands and marine area with dozens of bay anchorages and fascinating islands, some of which are accessible by ferry.
