The house is on 2000m2 of peninsular coastal land landscaped with citrus and sub-tropical planting. Ground maintainance is out sourced.
The house is new with large living spaces overlooking the local marina and Yacht Club on one side and out to sea on the other. It is 15 kms. to Kerikeri town, golf course, restaurants, etc. so a car is necessary. We could leave a BMW 325i as part of an exchange. Rental cars are available in Kerikeri.
The kerikeri house has two of its bedrooms in a separate wing that does no have to be opened.
The Yacht Club does meals and is within walking distance. There is a network of local neighbours for advice and assistance. Two sets of golf clubs are at the house.
We also have a modern house on the beach at Campbells Bay in Auckland if anyone wanted to spend time in New Zealands largest city (pop 1.4m). The house has 3 bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms and has a boat ramp to the beach with a laser yacht and aluminum dinghy in the boat shed. The house is surrounded wth shopping and restraunts. Both houses are concidered stunning in location and design
Ross & Diane are around 60 with 3 married children and 6 grandchildren. We have been married for 38 years. We tend to use the house in Kerikeri during December and January with family. The Campbells Bay house would be available if we were in Kerikeri.
We tend to spend about equal time in the houses and anticipate a non-simultaneous exchange. We will go to which ever house is not exchanged
We play golf, garden, walk and am a keen diver and fisherman. Fish, mussels, scallops and crayfish are common in the area for recreational catch. Marlin fishing is popular January to April.
The "Bay of Islands" is a major New Zealand tourist destination and is part of New Zealands early history. Kerikeri was voted New Zealand top town in 2004 (pop 10,000) quaint with many restraurants, coffee houses, bars etc. Kerikeri is the ideal place to explore the area both on the water with lots of tourist or fishing boat trips also on land with many day tours or self drive available.
While Kerikeri is a destination in its own right it is also an ideal base to explore the north of New Zealand with lots of walks, tours, golf, fishing, diving, in the area.
The area is sub-tropical (no frosts) with good sea swimming or diving. The pool is solar heated.
for swimming November to April.
