A traditional character cedar bungalow in a quiet private section. Three bedrooms, with the main bedroom en-suite and having a private veranda. Two lounges, two bathrooms and an office. The house is equipped with a wood burner in the cosy cottage lounge and a wall mounted heat pump in the main lounge. The house has HRV air conditioning.
There is cable wif-fi, TV with netflix and a DVD library. Outside is upper and lower deck seating with BBQ, a lawned garden which is virtually maintenance free being contract mowed monthly. A double car port.
We are a recently retired professional couple originally from England but have lived in New Zealand for many years. Our two children now live overseas. Our eldest, Damien, was born in Malawi where Richard worked as a Telecom Engineer and Carole was employed in the British High Commission. Our daughter Keren lives and works in London with her IT husband.
On arrival in New Zealand Richard became a teacher and manager at Northtech polytechnic and Carole was with Northland hospice. We have since lived and worked in the Solomon Islands, Bhutan and Papua New Guinea. For ten years we ran our own business Eden House Ltd. This comprised of a Bed and Breakfast and a HR consultancy.
Our interest include the local amateur theatre. Richard acts, directs and writes whilst Carole enjoys being back-stage on props and set design. We are avid readers and enjoy history.
The house is situated in a smart quiet road leading up to the picturesque Whau Valley dam. There is a park within five minutes walk and a ten minute walk will bring you to shops, a restaurant and take-aways. A five minute drive to a choice of supermarkets.
Whangarei itself is a charming harbour town with a climate varying from very warm to merely temperate through the year. The most settled weather is mid January to mid May.
The town has a plethora of parks, walks, gardens and a multitude of pristine beaches within easy reach. The town lies at the head of the Hatea river and provides marina anchorage for yachts from the world over. Auckland is a two hour easy drive and to the north the stunning and historic Bay Of Islands is just over one hour drive.
The town is surrounded by natural beauty. Head out to Whangarei heads and discover small coves and beaches which even at the height of summer are often devoid of visitors! To the north is the Ruakaka coast and to the south lies the vast Tutukaka beach-line.
