About our home

Large family home on 50 acre farm with large garden and outbuildings. We built the house about 3 years ago. It has four bedrooms (1 ensuite) with two living areas and an open plan kitchen/dining area plus a sewing room and 2nd bathroom. Also a laundry with large chest freezer. Fully carpeted, log burner in one living area and a heat pump in the other. Double glazed and very warm. The majority of the farm is leased to the neighbor, though we still keep around 100 sheep to keep the place tidy (the sheep will be looked after by a neighbor during the exchange). Outside there is a large garden, lots of parking, trampoline, bbq and sort of verandah/covered area. Kasias parents live next door so will help you settle in, mow the lawns, arrange keys etc. We have three cars (1 4x4) which could be included in the exchange and a 15ft boat with 90hp outboard which again may be included subject to suitable experience.

More about us

  1. We are Clive (54) and Kasia (21, yeah right). He's a semi retired computer techy working part time in a variety of jobs after selling his business a couple of years ago, Kasia is a veterinary surgeon and works part time in a local practice. We have three children, Alexander 15, George 12 and Henry 9. We moved to NZ from the UK and Poland about 20 years ago and now wish to show the children where we came before they get too much older. We enjoy a great variety of things including dancing, motorcycles (well not Kasia),theatre (on an off the stage) and have a wide circle of friends willing to help you enjoy your stay if you desire. Ideally we'd like and exchange for a month in the UK, a month in France and a month in Poland but are open to offers.

Where is it?

We are about 15km from Ashburton (population approx 15,000) and just under 100 km south of Christchurch. If you're a skier Mt Hutt is only a 45 minute drive away, we can be on the slopes in under a hour. Queenstown, The Remarkables and Coronet Peak are also within easy reach plus we have lots of small club fields in the area. For non skiers theres heaps to do, hunting, fishing tramping if you're the outdoor type, sampling life in rural NZ, visiting the many small townships (each with their own unique character) or simply enjoying the stunning scenery. Much of the Lord of the Rings was film in this area (several of our friends were extras and Kasia worked as veterinary surgeon for some of the horse scenes). The population of the South Island of NZ is just over 1.5 million, pretty low for a area the same as England! We love it.
