About our home

A family home for more than 30 years, this is a very charming house with fantastic living space, on a beautiful coastline 15 minutes north of the centre of Bergen, Norway. Fashioned from a former farmer's cottage and surrounded by a large garden with ample patios facing east, south and west. Amazing views, only 15 minutes to historic Bergenby car and the airport lies just 35 minutes south of us. A wonderful base for the Norwegian fjords, great walks, swimming, fishing and even glacier skiing only 1.5 hours away.
This is our main family home and is therefore only available in the school holidays for the moment.

The house is arranged over 3 floors. There is a large entrance hall including guest WC. There is a wide staircase leading up to the main living room, a wonderful space with panoramic windows, views over the sea and a large fire-place. The kitchen / diner (redone in 2014) takes up the rest of the first floor. There are french doors leading onto a sunny patio. A door from the kitchen leads into the former cottage area of the house and there is an extensive utility room on the left with washing and drying facilities . Both the kitchen and utility room have underfloor heating, giving a lovely, even temperature to the living zones and perfect for drying off wet hiking boots or rain-clothes.

A staircase takes you up to the oldest area of the house ( sloping ceilings and lots of charm). There is a comfortable family bathroom with shower and bath. A door leads into our TV snug where the main TV stands ( we have cable TV including several BBC channels such as Entertainment and LIfestyle in addition to other English-language channels). Through the TV room and onto the bedrooms. There are 4,bedrooms, 2 doubles and 2 singles. One of the singles can house an extra bed if necessary. There is a fold-down camp bed available and also a small double sofa bed in the hallway of the ground floor which can be moved elsewhere.

There is ample parking on the property (house is detached) and the neighbourhood is very pleasant. The bus route runs past our house (very handy!) but this can be a source of traffic noise if you are very sensitive to this - just so it's said!

If you need any other details - please contact me and we'll reply asap.
